Twill Slipcovers

Twill is a type of fabric known for its progression of interlacing threads which form a distinct diagonal weave. The most basic twill weave is two threads in one direction, crossed over by a single thread in the opposite direction.
This gives the weave its characteristic and unique diagonal design. This design can be easily seen where several colors are used. It is harder to see when used with a single colored thread like cotton. Examples of twill fabric are chino, denim, gabardine, tweed and serge. You may have heard of Harris Tweed, a famous twill hand woven on the Isle of Harris, Scotland.
Some interesting characteristics of twill: Twill tends to be a light fabric and because of it's unique pattern structure, generally conforms well to whatever it is covering. The weave tends to resist staining. Stains show up less, because they have a more difficult time adhering to the multiple threads going in different directions. Twill fabrics are often used for upholstery, or in this case to help a homemaker avoid the need for new upholstery by buying twill slipcovers.
